Importing data from other courses

Summary

At some point you may wish to copy content from an old or completely different course. Here is how you can achieve this.

Resources

Instructions

You should consider duplicating the content to copy into a dummy section, as this will prevent sections headers from being overwritten and simplify the import process.

  1. Navigate to your Moodle course.
  2. Select More, then Course reuse from the navigation bar below the course title.
  3. Ensure Import is selected in the dropdown box at the top.
  4. Search for the course you wish to copy from, select it, then click Continue.
  5. Untick everything and select only the type content you want to import (generally activities and resources).
  6. Click None to unselect everything, then select only the content you wish to copy.
Note: You can select individual activities, but you are forced to select its parent section first, which will then be merged into the destination course including the section header.
  7. Review what is being copied. If you are happy, click Perform import.
