Summary
Like every piece of software Moodle needs to be kept up-to-date, and MedMoodle and HSMoodle are no different. Our next scheduled upgrade is 9-10am, Monday, 15 December, 2025.
During this time the Moodle environments will be unavailable to users.
When Moodle is back up and running you should notice some minor changes which include:
- New Activities overview– The Activities overview page now works across all major activity types, showing staff what needs grading and providing students with a clear picture of upcoming tasks and completed work.
Why this matters: Having one organised view of all course activities helps staff act quickly and enables students to stay focused and on track. - Redesigned Activity chooser– Activities are now grouped into separate tabs by teaching purpose: assessment, collaboration, communication, resources, and interactive content, with related tools suggested for each.
Why this matters: Staff can design courses with their learning goals front and centre, choosing tools based on purpose. - Question banks– Staff can reuse and share questions across courses more easily with course question banks.
Why this matters: Reusing questions saves time, supports consistency across courses, and makes it easier for staff to collaborate.
- Retiring the Atto text editor– You have already been using the new text editor, TinyMCE, so this change should not affect you.
- Update minimum course requirements– The minimum course requirements have been updated. Please refer to the ‘Related Pages’ at the bottom of the page to review these updates.
