Polls

What are polls?

How do I use polls on my site?

You will need to go to the Plugins section of your Dashboard and find Simply Poll plugin and activate it.

Once the plugin is activated you will notice a new section call Polls appear in the left hand side menu of your Dashboard (just below Posts). Here you can create new polls, each poll can have a maximum of 10 options.

Once a poll is created you will be able to add it to an area of your site. To do this you will need to get the poll’s shortcode. ‘A shortcode is a WordPress-specific code that lets you do nifty things with very little effort. Screenshot of shortcodes for pollsShortcodes can embed files or create objects that would normally require lots of complicated, ugly code in just one line. Shortcode = shortcut’ (from WordPress.com Support). The shortcode for each poll is displayed in the Polls area and will look something like [poll id='1']. You will just need to copy and paste that where ever you would like the poll to appear (remember to take the brackets as well).  You can put polls in widgets (use the text one), pages and posts.

One limitation of this system is that you should only have one poll appear at a time, if you have more than one poll visible on a page at once only the first poll will be updated with someone votes. This is a known issue and is being looked into by the author of the plugin.
