{"id":63,"date":"2017-04-10T15:00:09","date_gmt":"2017-04-10T03:00:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/facmed.otago.ac.nz\/moodle\/?page_id=63"},"modified":"2023-01-11T10:56:30","modified_gmt":"2023-01-10T21:56:30","slug":"rubrics","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/help.otago.ac.nz\/moodle\/assessing-students\/rubrics\/","title":{"rendered":"Rubrics"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Summary<\/h2>\n<h3>Resources<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><a title=\"Rubrics\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.moodle.org\/401\/en\/Rubrics\">Rubrics<\/a> (Moodle Docs)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>How to create and apply a grading rubric<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Login to Moodle and navigate to the assignment you are going to grade with a rubric.<\/li>\n<li>Open the assignment and switch to the <em>Settings<\/em> tab.\u00a0Make sure the <i>Grading method<\/i> in the\u00a0<em>Grade<\/em> section is set to\u00a0<em>Rubric.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Switch to the\u00a0<em>Advanced grading <\/em>tab.<\/li>\n<li>You now have two options:\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Create new grading form from a template<\/strong> &#8211; use this if you&#8217;ve already created a rubric that you want to reuse or modify slightly. Follow the instructions to pick an existing rubric.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Define new grading form from scratch<\/strong> &#8211; use this to create your rubric. This is the option we&#8217;ll continue with.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Give your rubric a name and set up your criteria and levels of achievement. You can add new rows and columns by clicking the\u00a0<em>Add level\u00a0<\/em>(column) or\u00a0<em>Add criterion<\/em> (row) buttons.<\/li>\n<li>Apply any of the <i>Rubric options<\/i> that you require.<\/li>\n<li>Click\u00a0<em>Save rubric and make it ready<\/em> when you&#8217;re finished.<\/li>\n<li>You can choose to store the rubric for future reuse by clicking\u00a0<em>Publish the form as a new template\u00a0<\/em>or edit the rubric if needed.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>How to grade with a rubric<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Start grading as you would normally (instructions below in Related Pages).<\/li>\n<li>Your rubric will appear in the\u00a0<em>Grade<\/em> panel above\u00a0the feedback sections.
