In order to adhere to the University&#8217;s policy around students viewing<\/p>\n<h3>Resources<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/help.turnitin.com\/feedback-studio\/moodle\/direct-v2\/student\/submitting-a-paper\/accepted-file-types-and-sizes.htm\">Supported file types<\/a> (turnitin.com)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.otago.ac.nz\/study\/academicintegrity\/\">Academic Integrity at Otago<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>University Policy on Using Anti-Plagiarism Tools<\/h2>\n<p><em>Taken from the University of Otago<\/em><em><a href=\"https:\/\/help.otago.ac.nz\/blackboard\/assessing-your-students\/turnitin\/creating-a-turnitin-assignment\/\"> Blackboard helpsite<\/a><\/em><em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>It is up to individual lecturers to decide whether or not to give students the option to submit and view a draft Similarity Report so they can review their work, though the University recommends allowing students to submit a draft. Upon making a final submission to be assessed students should not be able to see the Similarity report.<\/p>\n<h2>Setting up a draft Turnitin Submission area<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Log in to Moodle and navigate to your course.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure editing is turned on <em>(Edit Mode &#8211;<\/em> top right hand corner).<\/li>\n<li>Go to the section where you will be adding your draft submission area (usually\u00a0<em>Assessment)<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>Click +\u00a0<em>Add an activity of resource<\/em> at the bottom of that section.<\/li>\n<li>Select\u00a0<em>Turnitin Assignment 2<\/em> from the list and click\u00a0<em>Add.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Give the submission area a name.<\/li>\n<li>The following settings need to be set:\n<ol>\n<li>Number of parts &#8211; ff you&#8217;re wanting to use the same submission area for multiple assignments (up to 5) set the number of parts to the number of assignments (i.e Assignment 1, Assignment 2, Assignment 3).<\/li>\n<li>Display Originality Reports to Students &#8211; Yes<\/li>\n<li>Grade &gt; Type &#8211; None<\/li>\n<li>Assignment Part # &gt; Name &#8211; give the assignment part a name, especially useful if you&#8217;re using each part for a different assignment draft area. Suggest &#8216;Assignment # &#8211; Draft&#8217;.<\/li>\n<li>Originality Report Options &gt; Report Generation Speed &#8211; Generate reports immediately (students cannot resubmit)<\/li>\n<li>Originality Report Options &gt; Store Student Papers &#8211; No Repository<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Click\u00a0<em>Save and return to course<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Adding Turnitin to an Assignment<\/h2>\n<p>These instructions do not cover how to set up an assignment from scratch &#8211; see the Assignments page for those instructions.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Log in to Moodle and navigate to your existing Assignment activity.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure editing is turned on\u00a0<em>(Edit Mode &#8211;<\/em> top right hand corner).<\/li>\n<li>Click \u22ee<em>\u00a0&gt; Edit settings<\/em> to the right of your assignment.<\/li>\n<li>Scroll down until you find\u00a0<em>Turnitin plagiarism plugin settings<\/em> and expand.<\/li>\n<li>You will need to set the following settings:\n<ol>\n<li>Enable Turnitin &#8211; yes<\/li>\n<li>Display Originality Reports to Students &#8211; No<\/li>\n<li>Store Student Papers &#8211; Institutional Repository .
