Time Frame: 5pm Friday 29 November 2013 – 9am Monday 2 December 2013
Audience: All staff and students using Blackboard
ITS will be upgrading Blackboard this year.
This upgrade will include a weekend outage to Blackboard where no-one will be able to access Blackboard. We have scheduled the upgrade to happen between 5pm Friday 29 November until 9am Monday 2 December.
This upgrade to Blackboard includes several behind the scenes improvements as well as some new features. Some of the new features include:
- New calender
- New Content Editor
- Improved Discussion Board functionality
During the upgrade we will lose one feature of Blackboard, the Collaboration service, this service includes Virtual classroom and chat. User of the Collaboration service can achieve the same functionality by using Otago Connect.
You can keep up-to-date with news about this upgrade by following the ITS Service Notices and the eLearning blog
( www.otago.ac.nz/elearning or https://blogs.otago.ac.nz/elearning/2013/09/30/blackboard-upgrade-2013/ ).

We have inserted a message into the course menu of new, and newly-rolled over Blackboard papers to indicate when a paper creation or rollover process is still in progress. This message will read:
“Paper creation or rollover in progress.”
This means that we are still setting up your new paper, or still rolling over your paper (both of these processes include a few different steps and we’d like you to be aware that we’re still working on your paper). The message will be removed after the paper creation, or rollover process is complete. You will also be advised by email.Last updated: July 29, 2014 at 10:00 am
