Summary

You can make your Blackboard paper look unique and visually appealing to students. Remember – all papers have the same blue rounded buttons to begin with. You are able to change the menu design and add an image for the banner. Another way to personalise your paper is to decide which page students always see first.

Personalising your Blackboard paper

Changing the Course Theme

This feature will be available after the December upgrade to Blackboard (available after Monday 10 December 2012)

  • Open your Blackboard paper
  • Make sure Edit mode is ON (check the top right hand corner of your paper)
  • Go to the Colour Swatch located to the left of the Edit mode switch. Clicking the swatch will display a list of themes
  • Select one of the themes and your paper will be updated’

Adding a Banner

  • Open your Blackboard paper
  • Go to Control Panel > Customisation > Teaching Style
  • Go to Section 7. Select Banner. Here you can upload an image that will be used on your paper’s entry page.

Modifying the Course Menu

  • Open your Blackboard paper
  • Go to Control Panel > Customisation > Teaching Style
  • Go to Section 4. Menu Style. Here you can change what colour your course menu is or whether or not it is displayed with buttons.

Setting a new Course Entry page

  • Open your Blackboard paper
  • Go to Control Panel > Customisation > Teaching Style
  • Go to Section 2. Select Course Entry. Here you can decide which page students see first when they open your Blackboard paper.
