Interpreting SafeAssign Reports

Summary

After students submit a file via a SafeAssignment, or a staff member uploads a batch of files to SafeAssign’s “Direct Submit”, they will be able to access a report about that file.  This information (below) about interpreting that report is provided by Blackboard.

Blackboard.com Guide to Interpreting a SafeAssign Report

For help interpreting SafeAssign reports please refer to Blackboard’s Help page – https://help.blackboard.com/en-us/Learn/9.1_SP_12_and_SP_13/Instructor/090_Assignments/030_SafeAssign/030_Running_SafeAssign_Originality_Reports

Match Scores

The SafeAssign match score is not a percentage of the document that matched other sources; nor is it a “plagiarism score”. Rather, it is a confidence score indicating how sure SafeAssign is that parts of this document were copied from some other source. An “appropriate” match score may differ from paper to paper, and from assignment to assignment so please use it as a guide only.
